Postinor and slipped condom

Hi i had my period on 19 to 24th of Feb, on 5th of March i had sex with my boyfriend, we are using condoms all the time but the condom slipped unnoticed for about half a minute inside me, after we noticed that we took the condom out and put on another one. However due to our location at that time we werent able to purchase any emergency pills, it was only after about 30 hours later that i am able to take my first Postinor tablet as i wasnt able to get Ella. I took the second pill 12 hours later. However i also had UTI and i was taking Amoxicillin 500mg tds on the night i took postinor2, but i left at least 2 hours in between Amox and Postinor although i checked that there are not interactions between two, only with Ampicillin.

Over the last few days i've been very panic about possibilities of getting pregnant as according to my calendar it was 2 days before my ovulation that the condom slipped. Even though my boyfriend said he had not ejaculated during that time, i'm still very worried that i might be pregnant.

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question. There are no interactions so you should be fine although the only way to tell is to see if you miss a period and then take a pregnancy test. You will experience possible irregular periods for the next two cycles as this is common when you take an emergency contraceptive. If you are concerned, you should take a pregnancy test once you are "normally" going to miss a period. If it is negative and you are still concerned, make an appointment with your treating physician for a blood test (pregnancy test). This will guarentee results although urine tests are highly accurate. Unfortunately, time and waiting will be the only solution at this time.

I hope this helps and good luck.

Thank you very much for your advise. I saw that some pages did posted there are moderate interactions between the two drugs, however i do hope that if i get my period earlier, then i'm safe am i right? Because we are not ready for a baby yet, and my parents would be furious to know that too, although i am way ahead of the illegal age group. The waiting is really excruciating.
Is there any other way to stop pregnancy? As far as i know there is none at the moment.
Thank you very much again, your reply calmed me down.
