Hi, I've been having really bad breast pain and my doctor ordered an ultrasound which I'm going to have it done soon and I was also told that I have very dense breasts. A different doctor told me he felt something and so have I. When my doctor was looking at the ultrasound in his office he said it's very dense so he ordered that I do a ultrasound. What I'm wondering is if something is there and because of being very dense how would ultrasound show it? Would anything specific should be done about density? Please let me know soon.
Thank You,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,
You will have to listen to your doctors. If your breasts are dense and they follow up with an ultrasound, it stay may require further testing depending on what is or is not found. Try not to let your mind wander and take it one day at a time. You haven't even had your ultrasound and are already thinking that it's not going to pick up anything. Ultrasounds have been used for many years as a method of diagnosis and if you have any questions on whether follow-up testing is necessary, then the best person to ask is your doctor.
Best.
