I'm happy to share with you what I'm currently taking. It's a very low dose estradiol patch. It's called Climara. It's been around since the late 70's.
That's what works for me. Some women who need hormone replacement therapy, cannot take climara. They can be allergic to the adhesive or it just doesn't work. That's the way it is with everything.
There's the vivelle patch which works well for other women. I cannot take that patch. It does nothing for me. It's so individualized.
Find a doctor who can help you with this. I had blood drawn every 6 weeks to see if my levels were getting better. That's the best way to tell....also how you're feeling. If you don't feel better...in my case that happened with the Vivelle. Then you know you need to try something else. There is no one size fits all to this. I only wish that were the case.
Once I got the perfect combination for me....I was back to my old self again.
Hope this helps.
Best in health,
Michelle

Thanks,Michelle, for your informative and quick reply to my question about what hormone you were taking.
I will discuss some of these other treatments with my Dr. I hadn't heard of the one you take now or the one you tried so there's a lot to research.
I appreciate your site. It's wonderful to have a resource like this for all of us that must take some type of hormones. I think in many cases like this (hormones), it takes women to help women.

Rory,
Michelle posted about this very topic, and mentioned that she uses Climara patch, which is an estradiol, FDA-approved patch. Is this what you remember reading?

Thanks for your reply. The paper actually didn't mention what treatment Michelle was taking - only that it was FDA approved. You answered my question with your reply.
Thanks again.

As I now take bio-identical hormones and have entertained changing to FDA approved, would Michelle share with me what she is taking now?
