Hi Lion,
April 14, 2011 - 6:59amThank you for your question and for joining EmpowHER. I think I need more information to help you advocate for your health. How close to the onset of your last period did you have sex? And did you have sex from that time until now when you are having the spotting? Did you use any kind of birth control method (condom, withdrawal, birth control pill)?
Generally speaking, when you have a period, it's an indication you are not pregnant. It is not super uncommon to have spotting between periods, but like I said, more information is needed to help.
In the meantime, perhaps these articles may help provide some insight: Answers for Women: Am I Pregnant After Unprotected Sex?, and Am I Pregnant? Myths and Facts About Sex
Good luck, and looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Lion,
April 18, 2011 - 7:30amI'm not a doctor, so I can't say for sure. But it could have just been residual blood from your period, or it could be what's called breakthrough bleeding. Make sure to not put yourself at further risk for pregnancy, and track when your next period comes, in case you need to see a doctor for irregular period if this symptom persists.
Hope that makes sense.
