Rib and Side pain

I have been having pain in my right side for almost a year now. It started in my back and side around where my kidney would be, also causing burning down my spine and felt like I had a softball in my back when I would lean back against something. I had an MRI which showed nothing so I went to see a gastro Dr who said it could be gallbladder and wanted to run further tests, I didn't have the tests ran because he also said he felt it was more musclo-skeletal problems. I did see a chiropractor which helped but haven't been seeing him for a few months now. In August my 2 year old jumped on my back when I was lying down and bruised my R ribs, they didn't see any fractures on x-ray but said they could have been small. The pain in my side is getting worse is now around to the front where my liver would be, sometimes it feels like I have a knot or lump there-kinda like a charley horse in your leg. I don't drink, but am overweight. I wore a tight fitting tank top yesterday-like a spanx type product-which put pressure on my ribs and now they hurting severely again. So my questions would be-how long would it take for my bruised ribs to heal AND what could be causing pain and tenderness in my right side constantly? I am concerned about the possibility of a tumor or something growing and causing this pain. And the ribs not healing is only increasing my pain in that side. My period is now a week late and all pregnancy tests have been negative, which makes me think something else is seriously going on. I did make a Dr Appt on monday with the OBGYN and will have him run multiple tests to figure out what is going on with me. Please help!

This is MY right side. It's a fairly constant dull ache to sharp stabbing pains midway between my ribs and hip. The pain goes anywhere from the front, side, and around to the back. I am going to ask for bloodwork and an MRI. Maybe I will get some answers tomorrow! Thanks for your help!

Thank you for your question and I am sorry you have been dealing with this pain. So we can be clear, you said that this pain is coming from your right side? Is this YOUR right side or if someone is looking at you right side.

There are several things on YOUR right side that may be causing the issue (appendix, gallbladder, etc.) .

Secondly, bruised ribs usually take 3-4 weeks to heal. Some things that you can do to help relieve the pain would be: use ice packs, avoid any physical activity, do not let others hug you since this may cause further bruising and just relax, give yourself time to heal.

I am glad to hear that you are going to the OBGYN for a follow up as there are so many things that can be causing your pain. Please keep us updated or give us more information so we may try and better answer your question.
