Sex while bleeding after taking the Next Choice (day after) pill.

So, as awkward as this is.. My boyfriend and I were intimate during what I thought was the last day of my period, but after that morning, I didn't bleed for the rest of the day aside from some pink spotting. To be safe, I acquired the Next Choice (day after) pill the next day because it was as soon as I could, so a bit more than 24 hours later. I started bleeding a few days after taking it, and my boyfriend ended up wanting to be intimate with me again and ended up ejaculating inside of me thinking it was safe because I was bleeding this morning (like while on a period). I put a tampon in after and took it out later in the day. There was blood on it indicating that I was still bleeding a little, or possibly from when I was bleeding, but at some point I think I stopped bleeding today. What is the likelihood that I'd gotten pregnant?

Hi Tiffanie-Marie,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  Most women will experience bleeding after taking an emergency pill.  Some of the side effects are cramps, breast tenderness, nausea, bleeding and changes on your next period.  Such as a lighter or heavier, longer or shorter period.  In order to know if Plan B did work and you are not pregnant.  You will need to wait until your next period is due and take a home pregnancy test.

Best,

Daisy
