Should I have been put on Glucophage?

About 4 years ago my physician put me on Glucophage. My A1C at that time was 6.0. She said she wanted me on it because she was afraid I would become diabetic . I now have a A1C of 7.0. My ? is could being on Glucophage have made me diabetic?

Welcome to EmpowHER. Glucophage tablets are oral antihyperglycemic drugs used in the management of type 2 diabetes. You need to discuss with your doctor your medical history and your concerns over any medication he might have prescribed. Hope this was helpful?
