Q:

started my birth control a week late

My period usually starts on the 5th day of my sugar pill, meaning when ever I get my period I've already taken my active birth control for about 2-3 days before my period finishes. Last month, I started my active pills a week later as there was a mix up at the pharmacy. If I were to have taken my birth control on time and not a week late, I would have started my period 2 days ago. I'm curious if my period will come 5 days into my sugar pill (which is a week later than when I usually get it) or if it should have come now - or earlier than 5 days into my sugar pill.
Thanks

Hi Anon and thanks for your question.

Your period will likely be a week later than before due to the week's delay in taking your pills. It's also possible that you may have some spotting or breakthrough bleeding until your cycle is on a regular schedule again. Hope that helps!
