Hello,
I am on the 20th day of my cycle. Last night I experienced a lot of cramping and this morning I had some yellowish, clear, glue-like vaginal discharge with bright red blood in it (kind of encapsulated). It was a long stingy-thing, about 2.5 inches long. I only discharged once and after, the cramping has gotten milder. I ovulated about a week ago. The same happened 5 and 2 months ago (about same time of my cycle). The first time it happened the blood was more pinkish. I went to see my OB/GYN then, who did a pelvic exam and took some swab tests, but didn't find anything unusual. Please let me know if I should be concerned or if anyone might know what's causing this. Thanks so much! - SH

Hi SH,
Thanks for the great news. Let us know what happens in the future. I am sure there are other readers that may experience the same issue.
Good luck,

Hi again SH,
I would certainly go back to your physician and get tested for any possible STDs and they can also perform a yeast test on you as well. I guess in reality, there is always the STD possibility. It may be something simple such as a yeast infection but going back to the gyno would be beneficial to rule out any possibilities since this is clearly abnormal for you.
Please keep us updated on your results.

Hello again.
April 6, 2011 - 10:03pmI went to see the gyno today and had a pelvic exam. Fortunately, she didn't find anything abnormal. Her explanation for the cramping and discharge was that it probably had to do with ovulation. I guess it could be, although it happened on day 20 of my cycle and I'm pretty sure I'd ovulated 4-5 days prior. Anyway, I was told unless the bleeding continues for days, I should not be concerned.

Hi SH,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. You indicated that you were checked by your physician..did he/she run all possible STD checks? Just to rule out any possibilities?
Do you experience any additional symptoms such as foul odors, headaches, cramping, constipations, itching or dryness?
Is there a possibility that you are pregnant?
Thanks for the additional information.

Hello Missie,
Thanks for your reply.
No. The doctor didn't run any STD tests. She asked me if there could be a possibility that I have one and I told her "no" because I have been in the same relationship for 12 years. I do not have headaches, itching or dryness, but I do have cramping and some pressure (started yesterday). As for odors, the past days I have smelled a slight bread-like smell from my (normal) vaginal discharge. I have thought of the possibility of a yest infection, but I don't have any other symptoms and I don't think it usually presents with bloody discharge (?) For the past 3 years or so, I have also been suffering from frequent urination. To rule out ovarian cysts, fibroids or other gynecological issues, I had a pelvic ultra sound in December last year (hopefully, they didn't miss anything). I do not believe I am pregnant either.
Thanks.
