My German Mother-in-Law is having stomach surgery in two days. Her Doctor says her stomach has turned over. Is this possible? Thank You

Hi, Anon, and welcome to EmpowHer! We'd love to try to help you.

Might you be talking about either a "folded stomach" or "twisted intestines"? Perhaps the wording is different.

The short answer is, yes, the stomach can actually sort of flip, or the intestines can twist, and require surgery to repair it. If you can tell us more about it perhaps we can find you more detailed information.

Did the doctor tell your mother-in-law how this happens?

I know the surgery is today, and I hope it all goes well. Please come back and update us!

Thank you for your inquiry.

I am not sure what you mean by 'turned over'. Do you mean physically turned over? What kind of surgery did she have? Was it cancer, gastrectomy, lymph node removal? Can you give us a little more information to help answer the question?
