Hello, Anon.
Thank you for your question today.
Dementia is not a specific disease but is a group of conditions characterized by impairment of at least two brain functions, such as memory loss and judgment.
Symptoms include forgetfulness, limited social skills, and thinking abilities so impaired that it interferes with daily life (functioning).
Medications and therapies may help manage symptoms. Dementia is irreversible when caused by degenerative disease or trauma, but might be reversible in some cases when caused by drugs, alcohol, hormone or vitamin imbalances, or depression. So, it's very important to evaluate dementia symptoms comprehensively, for a proper diagnosis.
best,
Helena
