I've noticed that my vaginal discharge has become stinky-sour (sometimes fishy). It started 2 mos ago and it's bothering me. No itching or inflammation or whatsoever. What could be the possible cause of this and what do I do for the odor to become normal? It's affecting my sex life coz I become conscious and all. I doubt it's std coz i only have intercourse with the same partner and he is clean and we're sure about that. I hope it's nothing serious and that it can be cured easily. Please help.

Hi Janelle,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. If you are having issues with a fishy smell, this is often a bacterial infection although it could be other things as well. The most common would be called bacterial vaginosis which can be cured by either vaginal cream or oral medication that is prescribed by your doctor. The best thing that you can do make an appointment with yout OBGYN in order to find out the exact reason for the "fishy smell" as it will not go away on its own.

I hope this helps.
