What are the odds that I am pregnant?

I have been on birth control for a few months, about 4, and my period became regular, every 4 weeks, which is to be expected. I started on the sugar pills from my last pack on the 17th of February, got my period on the 19th, and it lasted about 4 days, which is normal. I didn't get a new pack of birth control for the next month. On the night of February 28th, my husband and I had unprotected sex, and he came in me. This happened twice that night. The next day, March 1st, in the afternoon, around 3:45 pm, I took Plan B One Step. The morning of March 9th, I started bleeding, very lightly. It was pink at first, then became browning. It got slightly heavier during the evening, and then got lighter again. I've been having stomachaches, headaches, back pain, and light cramping. It's odd for me, because I don't usually have PMS symptoms, it's usually bleeding and headaches, and that's it. Plus, this bleeding came 8 to 10 days before I was supposed to get my period. My question is, would I get side effects of Plan B this long (8 days) after taking it? Or is it more likely to be implantation bleeding? Or is it just an early period? From the way I understand Plan B to work, it doesn't seem to make sense that it would induce a period, which is why I'm concerned.

To anonymous,
In my experience, which I am a rare breed as my doctor say's.. You could have just normal cramping or "pms" symptoms after your period that can last for up to a week. It does not mean that you are pregnant. Cramping is not usually a sign of pregnancy. Atleast it was not for me. Fatigue, nausea, back aches, sore breasts and sometimes mood swings will or can occur. Also keep in mind that if you are worried about it and think that you are pregnant your body can actually play tricks on you as well. It may give you false symptoms without actually being pregnant. My best suggestion to you is to try to relax, take a few deep breaths and get focused on other things. If you are pregnant you will know by the end of the month or within the first week of July. Also those early detecting pregnancy tests say they can read as early as 5 to 7 days before your expected period and to be honest they really only show any real results about 2 to 3 days before your expected period and only providing on the strength of the pregnancy hormone that your body will produce. I think it is a little to early to scare yourself just yet. Try, even tho it's hard to do, try to relax and put your mind at ease.. The symptoms you have mentioned do not mean your pregnant at this point.

For the last week I've been little nausea, and cramping with mood swings. I took 3 cheap HPT and 2 early dected test. Could I be pregnant or am I just scare, I really don't want to be pregnant, my Friend said he didn't do anything inside but im not sure. Very scared!

The duration of the "period" you described is not implantation bleeding. Implantation bleeding in my experience was a single event of spotting. It doesn't go on for days. Having a period for days (even if it's just spotting, but even moreso if it's heavier than spotting) indicates you're not pregnant.
Pregnancy hormones typically are generated to a detectable amount roughly two weeks following when you think conception may have occurred, or when you think you should be having a period. Bear in mind though, since you took PlanB, it is hard to say when your next period will come. As it stated in the article I shared with you, PlanB can make your next period come early or late. And until that period comes, you can't be too sure what your cycle, so it's important to not put yourself at more risk for pregnancy if you don't want to be pregnant. Do you plan to get back on the pill?

Hi Kschro,
Thanks for your question and for joining EmpowHER. What you describe actually is pretty common for taking PlanB from what we've heard on these boards. It can mess up your cycle, but it does decrease the risk of pregnancy with some side effects.

Good luck and let us know if you have more questions after thoughtfully reading the article.

Thank you for your response, Christine.
I get very anxious and nervous when it comes to things like this. As much as I want to be a mom someday, that day is just not today. I understand that you can't really know for sure one way or the other until the missed period. The bleeding stopped late last night. I wondered whether it was indeed PlanB or if it was implantation bleeding, the timeline fits for both. Do you, or does anyone, know how early a blood test can confirm or dismiss pregnancy? I was thinking about making an appointment with Planned Parenthood and taking a blood test, I know for a urine test, it's too early. Thanks so much for your help.
