What causes long periods in peri-menopause?

My periods are ofter 2 weeks long than start again a week later. So much so that I've become anemic. I am estrogen dominant and use progesterone cream, which helps with insomnia, sadness, breast pain. Is there anything else to be done about the bleeding or do I just wait for menopause?

Hi goal setter,
Thank you for your question, and for finding EmpowHER. This is a question for your doctor or gynecologist. Have you discussed options for treating heavy and frequent periods with your doctor? There are several treatments including different medications or surgery procedures could help alleviate your frequent periods. Treatment options depend on your age, personal health history, and if you are still in your childbearing years.
