I have Sickle Cell Anemia and I've been experiencing alot of pain in my foot and knees, I had surgery in April of this year and(I had a fistula placed in, for exchanged transfusions) a few days after I was sent home with no physical theraphy. My leg was swollen for 5 months and I walked on it because I had no choice but to do for myself. I have an avascular nicrosis in my right hip but what could the pain in my knee and foot be?? I've tried every med and creams but nothing seems to be helping, Please help!?

I am so sorry you are going through this pain and suffering! We can only speculate what the pain in your knee and foot may be, since you've had surgery and swollen leg for FIVE months?!

It is important for you to go to the doctor and get an appropriate diagnosis. (It sounds like you are just trying to treat the symptoms with creams; you did not mention any doctor visits after your surgery).

If you have had doctor visits since your surgery, it would be helpful to detail what type of doctor you saw, the symptoms you had at the time, along with any tests, diagnosis and/or medications you were prescribed. What have your doctors told you about your condition, as we can provide further information or explanation.

I did go back a few times to my hematologist and to the vascular clinic to see the surgeon who performed the surger, I also went to the E.R a few times and I pretty much got no where! I was hospitalized a few times after because of my leg and went back to see the surgeon aftermy discharge in June. He gave me a perscription for compression stockings but I wasn't able to get them. In July I was hospitalized again but for a crisis and I was in there for about a month in a half and I did get some Physical Theraphy while in the hospital but none after that. My hematologist is a great guy, he really is, and we've got this weird relationship, almost like a father daughter relationship, however he never seems to remember anything and it's really starting to annoy me! I've been with him for 6 years now and honestly I continue to see him because he's saved my life more than a few times, and if it wasn't for that I don't think I would see him. Realistically speaking you don't change something your familiar with or a doctor who knows your medical history right? I'm an out of stater vistiting and I want to see a physicians who could probably help me determine what's really going on but I don't want to be stuck with a bill that I couldn't pay. I've tried blue emu oil cream, biofreeze, pain burst rii, and even chinese oils and I'm all out of things to try.
