Hello Kristin,
I think it would be wise to have an abdominal ultrasound.

Do you notice the bloating after you have eaten, particularly after eating fatty foods?

Gallbladder disease may be the cause of your symptoms. If that is the case, gallstones will be seen on an ultrasound.

Hello Kristin,

Here is a quick way to check if you have a midline hernia:

Lie down on your back. Raise your upper body as if you were doing a sit-up. Place one hand on your upper abdomen, just above your umbilicus. If you feel a bulge, then, you have a midline hernia.

The symptoms of a hernia can range from noticing a painless lump to the severely painful, tender, swollen protrusion of tissue.

Constant pain, nausea and vomiting indicate a strangulated hernia. In this situation, the irreducible hernia entraps the intestine and cuts of its blood supply. This condition is a surgical emergency.

Thank you, Maryann. I've been having some issues since the birth of my son, extreme bloating (all the time) coupled with a lot of discomfort. Nothing I've tried seems to help much. My doc thought I might have this condition caused by pregnancy and wanted to send me for an ultrasound; however, I do not have pain of the other symptoms you've mentioned so seems like that's not the issue.
