Okay, I am 38 yrs old & about 15 months ago I had my second back surgery and it seems like my health has went down hill from there. Spurring from my back surgery i then had to have surgery on my left knee in april of 2011. In june of this year complications and what was believed to be a blood clot caused me to have to have another surgery on my left knee, I spent 2 weeks in the hospital and then went home for 3 days and was back in the hospital for a third surgery on the same knee. From there my health has gotten worse. With an elevated white blood cell count for about 8 months, I have had several tests done with no answers as of now.

Ok here is what I have found out so far!

Still no Diagnosis as of yet. Got test results from the hematologist @ Cancer Care Associates of Tulsa, ok. Everything is again NORMAL with the exception of my White Blood Cell count still being elevated. UUUUUGGGGGHHHHH this is getting old. Now going to see my pcp to talk to her about being tested for several other things.
These are what Cancer Care Associates suggested that I get tested for:
Chrone's disease
Cushing's disease
Fibromyalgia
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Chronic Fatigue syndrome
Multiple Sclerosis
and Gout.
Appointment with PCP is not until the 10th of this month. Will keep updating as I get results! Still waiting on results from the Gastro Dr. on the EDG and Colonoscopy biopsies.
Any suggestions anyone has I greatly appreciate!
Thanks Barbara

Alison,
Thank you for your advice! I have been talking to my PCP for sometime now and like you she too believes that when we find the major problem some of the others will also go away or become less prevalent. The problem is finding out what the MAJOR problem or problems is and how to treat it.
Thanks Barbara

Hi Barbara,
I am so sorry you are suffering with this list of mental and physical health conditions.

I am wondering how much of your list is a primary condition, and if treated properly, would lessen the "secondary" conditions. For instance, what if your depression and PCOS (or other hormone-related conditions) were better managed...would your other list of symptoms dissipate?

My most important question I can think of for you: is your mental health provider and primary care doctor (gynegologist) sharing information, tests, screening, diagnosis, treatment options...do you have a TEAM of doctors WORKING TOGETHER to tweak your treatment (I wonder how many of your conditions are hormone-related, and if the treatments and prescriptions are helping or "in sync" with each other, would you feel a lot better?)

Can you tell us more about your treatment regimen, if your doctors are working together, and if you have others on your health management team helping (alternative medicine practitioners, for example)?

What tests have been conducted regarding your mental health and any chemical-imbalances and/or hormone-imbalances?

Are you open to seeking additional help from alternative medicine approaches (focusing on diet, well-being, exercise, acupuncture, etc)?

Hang in there...we'll help you through it!
