Why did I get my period again..1 week later....I experience painful cramping and typical premenstral symptoms.

I have never had my period this close together. Clotting and extreme flows are typical in the first two days since the last year or so. It's terrible. Cramping is bad too...I am mostly vegetarian and on last Dr. visit had some iron issues..but hormone levels were normal. That was about 1 yr ago. Should I get on birth control? Is this menopause? Please help...Oh and I have a wonderful boyfriend but not really sex motivated so it's rare - and of last kinda hurt....
Am I in trouble?

Hi, Anon.

Thanks for contacting us today.

Depending on your age, it could be peri-menopause. Periods can become more frequent or less frequent. Flow can also change. Without an examination and blood tests, there is no way to know what is going on. If it has been a year since you last visited your gynecologist, I would suggest making an appointment.
