Why do symptoms of menopause come and go unexpectedly? I also use HRT but the symptoms still persists but not as bad as they could be without HRT. The unexpected flushing, sweating etc are vert frustrating.

Hello, FourEyedLady.

Thank you for posting!

The body begins to undergo several changes (over time) in response to lower levels of:
estrogen
progesterone
testosterone
follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)
luteinizing hormone (LH)

This can cause what many women say, is the up and down, come and go symptoms caused by hormonal fluctuations. This can include:
hot flashes
night sweats.
sleep problems
mood changes
and weight gain.

Most women first notice the frequency of their period becoming less consistent and changes in the flow. This usually occurs at some point in the mid-to-late 40s. By the age of 52 -55 ( this can vary), most will women have undergone menopause.
