Why does long periods occur?

I am 35 .last month I got 8days long periods and this month i completed my 11day today what is the cause

Thank you for posting.

Most women bleed for 3 to 5 days, but a period lasting only 2 days to as many as 7 days is still considered normal. An occasional longer or shorter period (to what is normal for you) is usually nothing to worry about. If you find your periods are consistently running longer than 7 days, make an appt to see your doctor (GYN).
