Q:

Why has my period not stopped?

My period started on a Wednesday, and I started birth control pills (after a couple months break from them) on the following Sunday, before my period had stopped. My period was normal, but it didn't stop. The flow lightened, but I'm still bleeding and I'm on day 16 now. Is there something I should be concerned about, or should I stop taking the pills?

Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community

The prolonged bleeding is not normal. Imbalanced hormones could be the culprit, but you really don't want to speculate. 16 days is a long time. Call your gynecologist and make an appt. today.

Be well,
