Why have I had 2 days of spotting but not period.

At 6 weeks I had a miscarriage which was 31 days ago - November 4th (I did not need a D&C). That day I had blood work done to see what my levels were and I was only reading a 6. My doctor didn't bother getting more blood work done since I was already only 1 above "not pregnant". She told me I would probably have my period this week but that it could be up to about 7 weeks. She also told me it would probably be heavier than usual.

Before my miscarriage I never had sore breasts with PMS, but when I was pregnant they hurt constantly and were extremely sensitive. This week they have been slightly sore, not like when I was pregnant but enough to notice. I also noticed 2 days ago nausea, all day long, usually more when I was hungry or hadn't eaten. Same thing yesterday, and today. I've also been burping a lot, even when I haven't eaten or drank anything.

All week I had random bits of brown spotting that was clotted. I figured it was just 'left over' and preparing for my next cycle so I didn't worry too much about it.
Two days ago, December 3rd I noticed blood when I wiped that evening so figured it was my period but after that I didn't have it anymore. Last night the same thing happened but it was a little heavier. But I again, didn't have anymore, this morning still nothing.
My husband and I used condoms this month as my doctor told me to wait at least one cycle before TTC again.

What could this be?

Hi Anonymous,
First, I am very sorry to hear about your miscarriage. When women miscarry, as your doctor told you, you may experience irregular periods for the next several weeks as your hormone levels change while you are pregnant and the symptoms will gradually disappear. Such as your sore breasts which is one large symptom for pregnancy.

The sporadic periods are not uncommon. Is this your main concern?

Please let us know what your biggest concern is so we can better assist you.

Thanks, Missie

I guess I'm trying to figure out if this is a regular period or not. It's so light unlike my normal cycle however its heavy enough to need a panty-liner. Yesterday I spotted 3 times but that was it, normally I would need to change pad or tampon every 4 hours at least (if not more).
My doctor told me I would have irregular spotting possibly but I guess I thought it would be the brown spotting like I had off and on after the miscarriage not this when my period is due.
My breasts stopped hurting basically immediatly the day of my miscarriage which was my 2nd indicator that I knew something was wrong. I hadn't noticed that they hurt again until this week which is why I associated them with PMS, but other than that I haven't had any of my normal PMS symptoms other than lower back discomfort.
So yes, my question is 'should I consider this my first cycle or should I be waiting for a normal one?'
My husband and I aren't planning to try again right now but I'd like to know when I'm getting back to my regular cycle.
Thanks!
