The summer break is all too short, out here in Central Texas, and our young adolescents are already scheduling required vaccinations. So, now is the time parents should be discussing the 4 diseases that could affect their middle and high school kids:
- Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
- Meningococcal Disease (Meningitis)
- Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
- Varicella (Chickenpox)
Personally, I had no idea that whooping cough and chicken pox were issues for teens. But, I suppose that it would make sense if the kids didn't have those childhood diseases at an earlier age. My daughter never had them, so they could present issues for her, now as an adult.
