Briefly, it's how our bodies produce heat.
All animals do, and some plants. The idea is that, the better our metabolism, the more efficient our body becomes at managing weight by burning off fat.
I hope that makes sense, and I hope one of our wonderful experts can explain this better.

In the old days, all medicines were natural ingredients like these. There were no labs to make the fake ones in!
What I also love is the use of things like cloves and cinnamon which are nice spices to sweeten things up instead of sugar!
And the savory spices are a great substitite for salt!
Thanks!

A report listed by U.S. National Library of Medicine says that consumption of spiced foods or herbal drinks leads to greater thermogenesis and in some cases to greater satiety.
"In this regard, capsaicin, black pepper, ginger, mixed spices, green tea, black tea and caffeine are relevant examples. These functional ingredients have the potential to produce significant effects on metabolic targets such as satiety, thermogenesis, and fat oxidation. A significant clinical outcome sometimes may appear straightforwardly but also depends too strongly on full compliance of subjects. Nevertheless, thermogenic ingredients may be considered as functional agents that could help in preventing a positive energy balance and obesity."
Thanks for sharing.
