I just want to share how much better my RLS is after starting on an iron supplement. Several months ago I asked for advice on how to combat Restless Leg Syndrome. I've had it for years, and it seems to have gotten worse in recent months. To the point where having to sit through plane trips and movie is excruciating at times. One of the moderators here recommended several tips, including taking a magnesium supplement, which I started doing a couple of months ago. The magnesium helped somewhat -- I felt some relief, but not completely. There were still some times when I literally wanted to jump out of my skin.
So I had my annual check-up not a few weeks ago, including some blood tests, and found out that I'm anemic (which I also posted about here, and which is apparently caused by my running), and my doctor recommended that I start taking an iron supplement every day. So I've been taking a slow-release iron pill every day for maybe 3 or 4 weeks now and I'm noticing a HUGE difference. In the past two weeks, I've gone to two movies with my kids, and also two plane trips and haven't had any RLS issues at all. It's amazing! I feel like a new person.
So I'm guessing that there's a connection between RLS and iron......
