As you may know from earlier posts, I have been dealing with a growing uterine fibroid and the suspicion that I have some type of hypothyroidism. I have decided to take the naturopathic route and last week I went to my first doctor visit. After filling out a very detailed questionnaire and answering what seemed like a zillion personal health questions (very thorough -- a good thing!), the doctor told me that what is happening to me is likely the cause of pollutants I have been exposed to in my life. So, I am now supposed to be on a high-intensity detox for the next 4 weeks to get a lot of these toxins out of my system. My regimen includes:
-- epsom salt baths
-- castor oil packs on my stomach (heated)
-- detox supplements
-- psyllium husk powder
-- ground flaxseed
-- sauna sessions
-- diet with large amount of cruciferous vegetables
.....and more!
So far, I have been able to do all of these things to some extent, but not as much as prescribed. I can still notice a difference. I have a little more energy, but I had a raging headache for two days last week. I am also feeling a little nauseous today, but who knows if that is related. I will keep you posted as to how this is going!!!!!!!!!

From what I have been told, my fibroid issue is a symptom of my thyroid issue. I was referred to this doctor by another naturopathic doctor. After the detox, my thyroid issue will be addressed in more depth.

Joanna, this is really interesting.
Is the naturopathic treatment primarily aimed at the suspected hypothyroidism, or the fibroid, or both?
I'm also interested in the concept of detoxing on its own. While you are battling two specific things, it seems like all of us who have lived on the earth for 30 or 40 or 50 years or more have taken in enough toxins that a detoxification treatment would benefit us. I'll be very interested to see how you progress, and what your thoughts are as it becomes more routine for you and you start seeing more effects.
How did you find your naturopathic professional? And will there be more steps after the detoxification time period?
