I did this for about a year and am now having the bioidenticals compounded and placed by my gyn. Better than anything else I've tried in the last 12 (!) years, and I've been through them all.

Good Morning Everyone! I was looking up sottopelle therapy to help educate my girlfriend and came across this web site. How great that we as women empower each other.
January 24, 2009 - 12:42pmI am now 54. I have been dealing with menopause since I was 22. Long history, but even then I was introduced to natural progestorone through (a doctor) in Fresno. I was his first and worst case but his most successful. He used a compoound lab in LA at the time and progesterone was liquid and inserted rectally. Wish I knew about sottopelle then. But..he was epic and ahead of his time in treatment then. He was the first to believe me and not to pat me on the head and tell me to go home. So I have always researched homeopathic and natural healing methods (long journey which I would love to share since it would help all my sisters)
I was just introduced to sottopelle with my best friend, Jeanne. She found it first (at age 53). She found (a doctor) in Las Vegas (where she lives). I've had sottopelle 3 months now w/progesterone, different supplements to address what my blood work showed him (he puts your blood sample on the screen so the 2 of you can look at it together!). At 54, I am again a brand new woman!
This is lengthy but I will be happy to share more. I am now starting private schooling for Ayurvedic Practitioner.

Hi Kathryn,
January 14, 2011 - 8:27pmI'm interested in learning the name of the doc in Las Vegas. I bring up the topic with all my husband's friends and it is changing their life for the better. The Sottopelle site must not be uptodate with physicians in LV. I've been using bioidenticals for 3 years, as has my husband. We are 66 and 70 respectively and feel like 40. We live in FL. The creams we've used previously seemed to dissipate too quickly. The pellets are remarkable, slow release, and last for 5-6 months. Blood tests two weeks prior to insertion are imperative because dosage is tailored to individual blood values. While the pellet consists of estrogen and testosterone, bioidentical progesterone is important to the balance, and is furnished by prescription from a compounding pharmacy; it's a citrusy solution that dissolves under the tongue at bedtime. For the lady who was concerned with all the hoopla about the bad press for HRT, the stuff they are taking about is synthetic hormones, Premarin and Prempro. Don't use those! This is just replacing the natural hormones that diminish with age. Our friends and I use them and we are amazed by improvements in energy, muscle mass, skin tone, no more depression, plus smiles from great bedroom activity. A man's estogen level is also monitored and corrected; important! DO IT! lots to gain. You won't get a referral from the "McMedicine" standard of care doctors, but you will find great enthusiasm from physicans practicing in the anti-aging field.

I just received last Thurs my first set of pellets, 3 days later I started to experience pain in the pelvic area(uterus). I am 54yrs old and have been postmenopause for 2 yrs. Went to the ER and we are still looking for the cause of the pain. Has anyone here experienced this? I really feel no different from these pellets except for the pain.I am supposed to start Prometrium in one week and now I am scared. You cannot get these things taken out! I wonder if it would be best to keep them for people who do not still have a uterus? After all they still are hormones being put into the body! I am having "Buyers Remorse" Help!

I just had my pellets inserted 2 weeks ago today and last week was rushed to ER for uterine area pain also. I have requested not to take the prometrium for a few more weeks. I am also scared now, perhaps they should NOT use this for women with a uterus. I am 54 yrs old and having secound thoughts about all this. You can't have them removed, so what so I do for the next 4 months?

Dear Anonymous,
April 29, 2011 - 9:01pmMorris here,
I'm so very sorry to hear about the pelvic pain and hope you will soon learn what has caused it. As Susan Cody posted, I urge you to speak to the doctor who inserted them...generally they are well-tolerated. It's easy to try to make a connection with the pellets since this is all new for you....but they are are not drugs. Bioidentical hormones perform just like the original hormones they are designed to replicate. They replace what is missing so that the female body has what it needs to feel and perform the way it was originally designed. Women will lose them with or without a uterus. They just replace what is missing; achieving optimum balance can take time,,,and I don't think you'd feel significant results in only three days. I'm pulling for you, and keep us posted on how you are.
Best, Morris

I have been using the pellet treatments (supplied by the only SottoPelle-trained doctor in Wisconsin) for the past four months. I haven't felt so great since my 30's -- and I just celebrated my 57th birthday. Within 4 days of the pellet insertion ALL of my menopausal symptoms had begun to disappear. I naturally felt no need to take my prescription sleeping medication. Then, I decreased my depression medication until I stopped completely -- that was 3 months ago. We need to get the word out that this treatment is simple and effective. It's time to unite! BHRT treatment could mean a world of difference for today's women -- and for future generations. True, most insurance won't cover the costs, but maybe we can change that when insurance companies begin to see the benefits. I applaud this question....Let's keep the talk going!

How do you take the progesterone? Along with the other hormones as a pellet or otherwise? Mary

I just received my first round of sottopelle pellets. I am 4 days out and have actually been cold. I am so hoping that is a good sign. I with you am not happy about the lack of coverage regarding many of the health issues for women. We as women need to make our voices heard. The effects of menopause/hormone imbalance is life changing. Another problem during this time women can begin having issues with facial hair and medication to treat that is also not covered because it is considered cosmetic. That is so "a man's answer". Being able to obtain an erection doesn't extend ones life but viagra is covered. I really don't see any difference in the two problems. Both are emotionally draining and damage the selfesteem of the person affected. I would love someone who has knowledge in how we can fight this problem with womens health issues to let me know.....We just want to feel good.

I agree, but I also don't think insurance covers male baldness issues. Insurance does cover surgery for "bladder tucks" for women where one can also slip in some vaginal reconstruction surgery and have it covered (depending on depth of one's insurance). Also, menopause/andropause didn't evolve as huge on the table issue until us free spirited boomers entered our 50s. We tend to believe we should still look good, feel good and have sex. I'm quite disgusted by the aging process - hate shaving my face (bought some hair removal cream that did nothing), hate everything that's happened to me since menopause. Since health insurance in general seems to be headed for the toilet in this country I don't expect an increase in coverage for women's issues.
