thermal endometrial ablation was a huge relief from excessive bleeding. But after one year of enjoying my life without periodsI began to have severe pain that landed me in the hospital, ultrasound showed a 5cm mass in uterin. whenblood flow would get cut off to the mass it would bring on severe pain. A hysterectomy was the only solution.findings were endometriosis ( that I never had prior to the ablation) It was determined that the ablation did not completely cover the lining of the uterus, where it missed continued to bleed and create a endometrial mass that brought the worst pain I have ever endured, including 4 natrural child births. Thanks for letting me share:)

I really do believe that we don't know enough about uterine ablation as we should. I've heard stories of women having the procedure, being happy with the result, but later on having to have a hysterectomy. At one point when I was having unbearably heaving bleeding each month, my gynecologist at the time recommended thermal ablation and really pressured me to sign the consent form the very day she told me to consider the procedure. I hesitated, thank goodness, and didn't sign on to have it done, instead trying a more conservative route of going on birth control. My issue was solved with the pill, and I'm grateful I didn't have a procedure done that I don't think has been studied enough.

Hey anon, thanks for sharing your story. And while you had initial success with the ablation, I'm sorry to hear that you had to endure so much pain. It's obvious you are tough as a mother of four. How long ago did you have your hysterectomy? Has your pain subsided?
