According to this article, http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article4327263.ece, three-legged races and sack races have been banned at an elementary school in Washington because kids just might fall over and hurt themselves. The kids will be allowed to hop and run, however, because the likelihood of injury doing that is apparently less.
Do you think banning these races, which have been done by kids since pioneer days, is a little extreme?

It's a right of passage to suffer a few nosebleeds, scraped knees and a few bruises from tumbling around the playground as a kid.
I think there are more important issues: like what goes into your kid's mouth (and even what comes out, if you know what I mean)!

I agree that kids need to be kids and play games. There are some organized sports that kids can really get hurt in (I should know...I broke my nose playing fast pitch softball in highschool!). Organized sports are not being banned (which is a good thing), so I'm sure kids can handle a three-legged race.
One game I wouldn't mind being banned, however, is dodgeball! ouch! Do kids still play this in P.E. class?!

No playing in the sandbox, jumping rope or eating cookies. Danger is lurking everywhere. Yup -- a little extreme if you ask me.
