I'm not sure heart dysfunction is the right words to use, because it's much more than that, my situation has been going on for about a week. I never go to the doctor, I'm one of those people who believe if it aint broke why fix it. I have been very blessed, I have asthma and that's been my one and only health problem, and it's not often (seasonal) This last week I woke up in a panic because the bedroom was spinning around so fast I screamed and grabbed whatever was there (my husbands hand). I woke up, went to the bathroom, settled myself back down, went back to sleep, a hour later I was awoke again by the same thing, and again i screamed for help, and said it's happening again. Every since this took place my heart races, at a abnormal rate, and it only happens when i sit down to relax, I've noticed as long as I keep busy, I don't have a problem, but even sitting here typing this, I'm experiencing my heart racing, and then slowing down to normal, then almost skipping beat. The dizziness, is still there, but not nearly as intense or horrorable. I told afew people at work, and they mentioned something called Vertigo, the symptom match somewhat, but not the heart irregularities. I feel like I need to go to the doctor, but that will probably be my very last resort.

Josie,
I'm sorry you are going through this! You may like to read some good news first:
"Irregular heart rhythms can also occur in "normal, healthy" hearts." (Cleveland Clinic)
When I read your question, I was wondering why you thought you have a "heart condition", as many times "racing heart" is not a sign of heart disease, but can be your reaction to stress or panic (as it sounded like you experienced with the room spinning).
Please, please go to the doctor. We do not know how old you are, if you are having any reactions to medication, if this is hormonal or an indicator of something more serious. It could be as simple as your electrolytes are not in balance. Do you know what your blood pressure is?
What is your fear of going to the doctor? Do you have a trusted doctor you like? If not, do any of your friends or co-workers have a doctor they can recommend?
Do you have any of these other symptoms (vertigo or other inner-ear condition)?
- Ringing or hissing in the ear
- Feeling of "fullness" or pressure in your ear
What about the following symptoms? (heart disease)
- Shortness of breath
- Fatigue, weakness
- Chest discomfort (pain or pressure)
And, what about these symptoms (panic attack)?
- numbness or tingling
- sweating
- feeling of intense fear, panic or anxiety
If you answered "yes" to any of the symptoms above, it does not mean you have this disease; they are guides to help you talk with your doctor.
The good news is that all of these conditions above are treatable!
The sooner you see the doctor, the more your mind will be at ease, the sooner you can get treatment (if needed). If you do have a condition, it could be less complicated if detected and treated sooner (rather than later).
Best wishes---please come back and let us know how you are doing!
