Master ceramist Jason J. Kim discusses the difficulty of making natural-looking veneers.
Jason J. Kim, C.D.T.:
If I am matching exact someone’s front tooth, that I am matching one tooth to the, using the porcelain ceramics to match it, it is very difficult. It is one of the biggest challenge of the ceramist to match exactly. It usually takes about 35 or 40 powders to really match the front tooth, believe it or not.
But we are using the same sort of methods of light transmission science or artistic ability of ceramic skills to mimic a lot of new colors in a way, even if it’s a whiter teeth, yes, but we will make it into the natural ingredients to have a natural appearance.
