Rearranging the Food Pyramid

By HERWriter

Dr. Andrew Weil has created a food pyramid focusing on foods that are anti-inflammatory. He says, "Following an anti-inflammatory diet can help counteract the chronic inflammation that is a root cause of many serious diseases, including those that become more frequent as people age. It is a way of selecting and preparing foods based on science that can help people achieve and maintain optimum health over their lifetime."

When we rearrange our own personal food pyramid, and change the way we eat, we change the effects our diet has on our bodies. Removing foods that cause inflammation can help the body to heal.

After attending Harvard, Dr. Weil went into natural and preventive medicine and is deeply committed to the field of integrative medicine. He is founder and director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center, in Tucson. He teaches as a professor and is internationally-known for his views on medicine and healthy living.
