97 and Still Inspirational

Last week I wrote about the how inspiration can change your life and your health. True to fashion the universe provided an excellent example to share with you directly related to health.

My Grammy is 97 and she has been living with congestive heart failure for the last 8 years. Before she was diagnosed she use to walk to the corner and take the bus to shopping district to run her errands. She had a procedure she was to unable to exercise and now she doesn’t leave except for doctor’s appointments and exceptionally special occasions. I was worried that her life was becoming too small because she almost never goes outside or leaves the house.

Several weeks ago I asked permission to plant a small vegetable garden in the back part of the yard. I turned over the soil and showed my Grammy out of the window what I was doing. I asked her if she wanted me to plant anything for her to get her involved. She said no. I went to get some seedlings and asked if she wanted something she said she wanted some flowers – so I got them. Then I brought her outside to see her flowers and my seedlings. A couple days later she asked me for the first time in months to take her to the garden store to get more flowers for the yard. I was amazed that she is now wanting to get out of the house and take an interest in something new and beautiful. Every time she gets out and walks she is exercises and strengthening herself. The inspiration of nature is getting her to get out and walk. Natural inspiration is improving her health!
