WNBA center-forward Kara Braxton explains why it is important to be a good teammate.
Kara Braxton:
People ask me all the time, what does it mean to be a great teammate? A great teammate is somebody who is understanding, someone that’s open, that you can talk to, somebody who can take a joke, somebody who can take criticism, somebody who is just there, responsible, dependable. A great teammate is me, I mean, I love my role and that’s what I come in and bring every day to my work, which is basketball.
Being a good teammate for me is not just on the court but for me, it’s at home with my mom, with my son, for us to communicate together, making sure my son’s needs are met, making sure things are going right with it whether it’s in basketball or football, school, after-school programs – anything he needs, it’s a communication thing.
