Are you a cardio queen?

By May 24, 2011 - 6:30pm

Sometimes we can get so caught up with burning 1000 calories on the eliptical, or running 6 miles on the treadmill, or even venturing over to the evil stair climber machine for an intense cardio workout, that we forget or often just don't think we need to incorporate strength training into the workout routine. I am guilty of this! I am running so much with the marathon training, the last thing I want to do is hit the gym for more training.

But, turns out I am doing more harm than good by NOT adding strength training into my routine! https://www.empowher.com/weight-loss/content/stronger-women-burn-more-fat-and-are-healthier?page=0,0

Even just three 20-30 minute strength training sessions a week could have enormous health benefits. Looks like I'll be hitting the weights tonight instead of the treadmill!

Anyone have any favorite strength-training tips or exercises they can share?
