HRT for Transgender individuals
I am a transgender male to female gender queer individual who in the past two weeks has started a testosterone blocker (Spironolactone) and estrogen injections (Depo Estradiol).
I found a wonderful nurse practitioner and physician who are transgender experts with an office staff that is very inclusive, private and respectful of a person like myself who 'dresses female' but hardly looks the part ---yet ;)
I am willing to share my experience and any knowledge I have acquired in the past months about medical transitioning and surgical options for a transgender person or family member/significant other.
There are two transgender support groups here on HER GROUP, please join either or both so we can network and support each other.
Hugs Lori
Update on my status: I am now more of a woman than a man. Let me explain that... I have been taking a T-blocker hormone medication, which is dropping my testosterone level dramatically. Corresponding to that I am receiving bi-monthy estrogen injections to dramatically increase my estrogen level.
I am experiencing both physical and psychologic changes, with my mood more "mellow", that is less aggression, anger, with my frustration tolerance rising. Physically, I am building breast tissue, filling a 44A bra, tenderness in my nipples and what might be called a soreness in my entire breast area. Some days are more intense in these physical feelings and others not so much... meaning some days I'm not very aware of my breasts changing and other days a lot is going on! Another change has been in my genitals, with a diminishment in over all size.
All of this is causing me to feel very happy, that when I "dress" to go out, feel a breeze on my skirt, buy a pair of shoes, or learn another make-up basic technique and advanced tip on "passing as a woman".
Hugs to all reading this and consider joining our transgender group here. Lori
