6 Ways to Naturally Whiten Your Teeth at Home

By June 1, 2017 - 1:13pm

Have you dreamt of dazzling pearly white teeth, but just couldn’t come to reason to spending a fortune to get it professionally whitened?

Well luckily there are other ways to whiten your teeth without having to break a bank. These ways are not only affordable but are natural and better for your teeth in the long run. Curious? Here are 6 ways to naturally whiten your teeth from the comfort of your home:

1. Brush with Baking Soda –
Baking soda has natural bleaching whitening properties; which is why it’s the common most used ingredient in commercial toothpaste. Studies have shown that toothpastes with baking soda has a significant whitening effect and were significantly more effective at removing yellow stains from teeth than standard toothpastes without baking soda.

2. Try Oil Pulling –
Oil pulling is a traditional Indian folk remedy meant to improve oral hygiene and remove toxins from the body. When using this remedy, swish around the oil in your mouth to remove bacteria. An alternative choice is coconut oil. Coconut oil is another popular choice as it has a pleasant taste and offers a variety of health benefits.

3. Use Hydrogen Peroxide –
Hydrogen peroxide is an antibacterial agent and works great as a total mouth and gum cleaner and keeps the mouth free of germs. Try mixing half of hydrogen peroxide and water, and then swish around in your mouth for one minute and rinse. Studies have shown that hydrogen peroxide keeps breath fresh by eliminating bad bacteria due to acting as a natural antiseptic/antibacterial agent.

4. Use Apple Cider Vinegar –
Apple cider vinegar is a powerful remedy as it effectively kills bacteria. The antibacterial property of vinegar is what makes it useful for cleaning your mouth and whitening your teeth. Try this remedy as a mouthwash – dilute it with water and swish it around in your mouth for several minutes. Then make sure you rinse your mouth with plain water afterwards.

5. Use Fruits and Vegetables –
Fruits and vegetables should already be included in your diet plan as they are good for both your body and teeth. If you didn’t know by now, raw fruits and vegetables can help rub plaque away as you chew. Some particular fruits that are great for your teeth are strawberries (as they are packed with Vitamin C, which can help break-down plaque that is causing your teeth to be yellow) and pineapples.

6. Brush After Drinking and Eating –
This is one of the best ways to whiten your teeth naturally, but is not an ideal situation as most of the time, we are out and about and do not have access to a toothbrush at all. But what we can do is to try to avoid drinking coffee or soda, and opt to drinking water instead. If you do need your coffee and soda fix, drink through a straw instead.
