getting the conversation started
Okay, lets get the conversation started. What do group members what to talk about, share or know in terms of dealing with Insomnia?
Hi Daisy,
Thanks. You are so right about how much sleep deprivation can affect our daily functioning and our brains. I was at the point for months where I could bearly take care of myself and my affairs. I have lost a whole year, but I must not look back.
If you ever research the effects of sleep deprivation on the body it is absolutely terrifying what is happening to your body and brain.
It's imperative that we find the root cause and seek whatever treatment works for us. Kali

Hi Kali,
Definitely, pain can be a major cause for insomnia. Am glad you found the right treatment for your cause. Not getting enough sleep, it's amazing how much it can affect our daily life and functioning of the brain. Which is what controls our entire body. Glad you are getting your Z's.

Thanks for the link Daisy. You bring up a good point in that there can be so many causes of insomnia. I thought if I could just get to the root cause the appropriate treatment should follow. I suffer from chronic pain and my doctor would ask if my pain was affecting my sleep because how can you sleep when your in so much pain. As my fellow Fibromyalgia suffers would understand the link between lack of sleep and pain, after a year of insomnia my pain was beyond excrutiating. I finally agreed in November to take medication for my pain and I'm happy to report that I am now sleeping about six hours a night! It took me a year of suffering to be ready to make the decision to take the medication, but I'm happy I did. Kali
