Under the casino's workplace rules, the waitresses are prohibited from gaining or losing more than 7% of their body weight; one was fired for being overweight and another for being underweight.

According to the Associated Press, a group of 21 women have filed a lawsuit against the casino, saying they are victims of management asking them if they are pregnant or "just fat," and of being made to squeal like pigs and snicker by their coworkers.

Their attorney, Deborah Maines, said, "Sexual objectification is institutionalized and left unchecked."

"It is difficult to separate the harassment claims that the court is recognizing from the overall theory that the work environment is hostile because of the grooming standards."

The New Jersey Court of Appeals ruled that the casino had the right to regulate the weight of its employees. However, it remanded part of the women's case back to the lower court, which said it should determine whether the women were "placed in a hostile workplace over the application of the standards."

The casino said it was pleased that the policy was upheld, noting that it was disclosed and agreed to by all female and male "costumed beverage servers" when they were hired as Borgata Babes.

A French gambler on vacation in Uruguay reportedly celebrated his birthday yesterday by throwing $30,000 into the air on a pub terrace.

According to Spain's El País newspaper, the man, who was staying at the luxury Punta del Este resort in southeastern Uruguay, was drinking at the Moby Dick pub there and won the prize money at the resort's casino.

The dishwasher, a local native, fished out $3,000. Other customers and employees got between $100 and $500. The Frenchman also apparently used several hundred dollar bills to light the cigars.

The incident occurred between 6:30 and 7:30 AM.

When the man tried to return to his hotel, he realized he had no money left for a cab and had to borrow some.
