How Long Does Frontal Hair Last with Proper Care?

By June 17, 2026 - 1:01am

The lifespan of a hairpiece is largely dependent on the base material and how often it is used. High-quality human hairpieces will last approximately 6 weeks to 6 months on average. Since the adhesive holding the hairpiece deteriorates over time and because of the growth of the client's actual hair underneath, the lace must usually be professionally reapplied every 2 to 4 weeks (this could vary depending on how often the lace is washed).

To prolong the life of your frontal hair, you must care for it very gently. Each strand has been hand-tied into a delicate mesh base, therefore rough pulling on or aggressive brushing against it will cause bald patches and shedding very quickly. Use either a wide tooth comb or loop brush and begin combing from the ends of the hair and work your way up to the roots of the hair gently.

To keep the hairline full, dial back the heavy heat-styling and keep oily products away from the lace, as grease can cause the knots to slip and unravel. Finally, never sleep on cotton—wrapping your frontal hair in a satin bonnet at night, paired with regular sulfate-free washes, keeps the strands moisturised and vibrant for multiple installations.
