Mother's Day comes every May and brings with it loads of handmade cards, last minute flower deliveries, and often a breakfast in bed. But some moms are deciding that while they love being with their families on the actual holiday, they also want to celebrate motherhood their own way. This is where the national "Moms Nite Out" events come in.

Started in 2008, Moms Nite Out has grown into a phenomenon moms across the country look forward to each year. Held the Thursday prior to Mother's Day each year, it is the first nationally organized celebration of motherhood designed to bring together moms both virtually as well as physically.

Organizers bring companies, brands, moms groups, bloggers and social media buffs together at mom-organized parties and virtual events, like Tweetups and online chats, to applaud moms and give them a well-deserved night off.

Moms can also download party ideas, recipes, and fun elements to host their own Moms Nite Out at home with their circle of friends.

Moms Nite Out was a brainchild of -- who else -- a mom. Maria Bailey is a mom of four, CEO of BSM Media, a published author, and serial entrepreneur with sites such as SheStreamsTV.com, MomTV.com, and MommyParties.com as well as several others.

She created Moms Nite Out after consistently watching moms take care of everyone else, even on Mother's Day. She believed they needed some scheduled time just for themselves leading up to Mother's Day. Judging by the thousands of women who participate each year, moms everywhere agree.

In addition to local sponsors, Simon Property Group, Inc., the largest operator of regional malls, is a big supporter and sponsor of Moms Nite Out. Their malls across the country provide venues for local Moms Nite Out parties. They will host events at 120 of their malls from coast to coast.

Other impressive national sponsors will be Diet Coke, Dove Body Wash, VISIT FLORIDA, Little Black Dress Vodka, and StriVectin.

Moms have flocked to Moms Nite Out events for the giveaways, freebies, food and drinks but most importantly for the fun and, for some, the novelty, of getting to hang out with their girlfriends.

The Simon Mall events are all free and open to all moms of all ages. They include a number of different activities including fashion shows, demonstrations, entertainment, food and beverage samples, and beauty services, all aimed at rewarding moms for the work they do.
