Dr. H. Joseph Naim
Dr. Naim is a Fellowship trained Bariatric Surgeon who, since 2004, has performed over 1,200 bariatric surgery procedures as a primary surgeon and another 300 as an assistant surgeon. His expertise includes Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding (LAP-BAND® and Realize Band), Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, Revisional Bariatric Surgery, and Surgical Treatment of other Gastro-Intestinal problems, including Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).
Dr. Naim received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Southern California in Los Angeles, with distinction in research with departmental honors. He then completed his medical training at the prestigious Mount Sinai School of Medicine, in New York City, with Distinction in Research.
This was followed with four years of training in General Surgery, which concluded with an additional year as Chief Surgical Resident at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. His interest in Weight Loss Surgery took him to another year of Fellowship training in University Medical Center in Princeton, under direction of world renowned Bariatric surgeon, Robert E. Brolin, M.D.
Subsequently, in 2004, he established his practice in the Los Angeles area. His passion for surgery and surgical weight loss brought him to the University of Irvine (UCI) Medical Center, as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery, where he has been teaching other surgeons in this field.
He is a member of multiple surgical societies, including the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons.
