I became acutely concerned with women's health issues when my sister was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in March of 2003. For more than five years, I watched her bravely battle this illness until her death in October 2008. Throughout her suffering, aside from providing emotional support, my family and I took what comfort we could in being the most informed we could be about the nature of her disease and the different treatments options available.
I currently teach college English and work as a freelance writer. I completed my undergraduate study at Lafayette College in Easton, PA, and my graduate studies at Trinity College, Dublin, and the University of South Florida.
