Dr. Peta Stapleton recommends learning Emotional Freedom Technique, which is also known as EFT. Emotional Freedom Technique is a benign treatment an individual can do for themselves by tapping on pressure points at the same time as they are focusing on their thoughts or feelings.

Dr. Stapleton has studied the effectiveness of EFT for decreasing food cravings in people who are struggling with weight problems.

"Her research also showed that the impact on food cravings was almost immediate and long lasting. Food cravings significantly reduced after just four, two-hour sessions and were maintained at a six-month follow-up."

Food cravings and weight issues are only one area that has shown encouraging results from the use of Emotional Freedom Technique. EFT has also shown itself to be effective in phobias, addictions and post traumatic stress disorder.

It isn't necessary to save it for the big problems. Many people have had success using EFT on day to day upsets and worries as well.
