Clarification to QVC Column

Rate This

After I wrote my recent column about QVC and sleeplessness, an anonymous person left me a very pithy comment. The person said something to the effect of “Won’t watching QVC promote overspending?”

And the lightbulb went off in my head.

The anonymous writer is absolutely right. Watching QVC when you’re manic (to help you sleep) might make you launch into a spending spree.

The reason I didn’t put two and two together about this is that I don’t, as I mentioned in a past column, overspend. As I said, I’m a very cheap person. Overspending is not one of my mania symptoms.

So I must clarify this. For the people for whom overspending is an issue, it would not be a good idea to tune into QVC when you’ve got insomnia. You might wind up spending your whole savings account.

This is why forums like Empowher.com are so good. There are “checks and balances” to what people say. I truly thank the anonymous writer for helping me clarify this issue. That writer may have saved many people a lot of money, pain and trouble.

Thank you, anonymous!

(And I apologize to the rest of the Empowher.com readership for missing such an obvious connection.)
