As early as the initial seminar that we offer patients, one of the most important questions the patients ask is whether the procedure, the LAP-BAND®ing procedure is covered by insurance.

Back in the early 2000s that was a very relevant question because many of the insurance companies still consider the operation experimental because it was not approved by Medicare at that time.

However, in 2005 everything changed. Medicare approved the procedure for their patients; therefore it was not considered an experimental operation anymore.

And so at this time most major insurance carriers cover the LAP-BAND® procedure and the REALIZE® Band procedure.

At North Colorado Medical Center Bariatric Surgical Services we accept all forms of private insurance including Medicare and Medicaid.
