Shannon describes her bariatric experience with surgeon Dr. Shyam Dahiya.
Shannon:
Well, when being a patient of Dr. Dahiya, obviously, it’s wonderful, like you walk in this office and it feels like it’s an office that I have been going to since I was a little kid or something. From the first day that I walked in here, that’s how they treat everybody, like everybody walks in; everyone says, “Hi.”
Amelia is fantastic. She takes care of everything, like I walked in the door; I didn’t have to do anything. I gave them my insurance card; they weighed me and it was on from there. A month later I was in surgery, and Dr. Dahiya, very quiet to begin with, but after that he is really a jokester, like he is a quiet jokester. So, a fantastic guy.
So when Dr. Dahiya performed the gastric bypass it was really comfortable just because from the get-go he explained from start to finish exactly what was going to happen. So there was no surprises at all and then, any time that I had a question I just asked him and he would tell me the straight story and tell me exactly what was going to happen.
I even had to have my gall bladder out a couple of weeks ago, but that was something they also told me about that when you lose weight at a rapid pace then you, that you get gall stones, and I got gall stones so I had to have that out, which Dr. Dahiya did also, and that was, that was so easy, like I thought I was scared to go do the gall bladder probably a bit more than the gastric bypass.
And of course he explained everything again, and they even come in and see you. I mean, him and Amelia, before you go into surgery and they talk to you to make sure you’re okay or if you have any additional questions, which of course I didn’t because they had already told me. But yeah, they are very professional and they know exactly what they are doing and how to get it done.
