After spinal surgery, you can help yourself have a smoother recovery by remembering these tips from registered nurse Sarah Burns.

Be sure to walk for short periods either with the aid of a walker, or leaning on someone's arm. Be aware of how you are breathing. It's important to practice deep breathing and it's important to cough alot after spinal surgery. This will help to prevent lung infection.

She began her career as a neuro intensive care nurse in England and gaining orthopedic, gynecologic and oncology nursing experience in Holland.
