The last Period I had ended on the 24th of Novemeber, and now being the 5th..I still havent got my periods. Tests were taken 4 times , shows negative. Travelled to a hot weather destination for 3 days(27dec-31st dec) and got back to a colder weather afterwards..got fever and cold , so I am on medicines antibiotics for the next 5 days.
has it got to do with the weather and travel, I am taking Folic acid tablets as well. Why am I not getting my periods yet ?

Hi Christine,

Thanks for the Info, After I put up the post , I Got my Periods on the 7th of Jan, So hoping its just going to be this one time such a delay has happened.Such a delay had happened once couple of years ago, but after that I was regular. We are planning for a baby, so will be trying after my periods get over. I really hope there wont be any problems to conceive, I am already taking Folic Tablets everyday, Is there anything else I should be doing to have a healthy baby..like maybe excersing?? will walking cause a problem ? and what other things I should be doing to ensure that I am doing it right....

Hi jisla,
Glad your concern has been alleviated. The best thing you can do is to try and relax. Then there's also having sex, and lots of it. You also may want to try to eat healthy, exercise (any kind you normally do is fine, and walking especially is not a problem). Additional things include: some doctors suggest decreasing your intake of caffeine and alcohol, and if you're a smoker, quit. You may want to start taking a prenatal multi-vitamin with DHA (fish oil). If you're unsure, you may also want to give your doctor a call and tell them you're trying--they may have some suggestions.

Many doctors say that if you have been trying unsuccessfully for a year, then it's time to look into fertility issues that may be going on. If you are over 35 years of age, then 6 months is a good amount of time to be really trying before asking the doctor if anything could be wrong fertility-wise. Good luck!

I'm not a doctor, so you may want to give your doctor a call. Is this tea with milk and black tea? I anticipate your doctor will say it's ok. But to be sure, you may want to give her a call.
Good luck.

Hi Anonymous,
Thanks for your question and for finding EmpowHER. There are many things that can cause you to have a late period. Most commonly pregnancy is the culprit, but in your case with the negative tests, it could be something else. Medication and sickness also can affect your period. Have you had irregular periods in the past? You may want to keep track of any symptoms/possible causes you can think of and give your doctor a call to see what they advise.
In the meantime, here is information about amenorrhea that may help you advocate for your health: Amenorrhea
Good luck, and let us know how you're doing.
