Hi afreen,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community! Blackheads can be very pesky and annoying to deal with, especially when you have tried so many methods to get rid of them and have trouble succeeding.

Here is a great article on EmpowHER that talks all about treating blackheads and whether they are curable: https://www.empowher.com/community/share/are-blackheads-totally-curable. Check out the article for tips you may want to try out.

Here are some helpful tips to getting rid of or improving blackheads:

  • Keep your hair clean and out of your face when possible. Greasy hair touching your face can lead to greasy skin, which can cause blackheads and more breakouts.
  • Try a medication like a third-generation topical retinoid. These are usually used for mild acne, and can be helpful with blackheads.
  • Place a pore strip on your face to try and remove blackheads as well as unclog pores on your skin.
  • chemical peels
  • laser therapy
  • benzoyl peroxide
  • clay masks
  • salicylic acid treatments

The article I shared above goes into more detail for all of these treatments. I also suggest visiting a dermatologist. Since dermatologists specialize in skin, they will be able to take a look at your blackheads, help determine what is causing them and help create a personalized treatment plan.

I hope this has helped! Please keep me updated and let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Erin
